I have 1996 Lincoln Towncar, a sweet smell coming into the car. The air conditioner started blowing hot and the car cut off. It started up fine but I haven't tried to use the AC anymore.
What could it be?

Sounds like you have somehow gotten a hole in your AC condensor coil and radiator (they are sandwiched togetehr in the front of the car) possibly from road debris or something. The sweet smell is coolant. It would be advisable that the car is not driven until it can be repaired as major engine damage from overheating could occur, by the time the light comes on it is usually too late.
