My mechanics are stumped--HELP, any fresh ideas on what to check would be appreciated.1992 Pontiac Sunbird: drives fine for about 38 mins, then sputters & is 'dead in the water'. After 30 minute wait car will go approx 2 miles, then repeats the unwanted
performance. Has new coilpack,catalytic converter/muffler syst., other assorted parts. Tired of being stranded 70 times. IF suggestion helps fix the problem, small reward possible.

its either the fuel filter, or the GAS cap, try the cap first it the cheapest and if it still doesn't work you can return it then try the fuel filter. i had this same problem with my chevy s10 and it was only the gas cap.
