My 1996 Infinity G20 has recieved 3 new alternators (and batteries) in the past year, but when it sits for more than a few days it won't start. The reason for all the replacements?: car dies on the road, alternator test comes up normal, problem blamed on faulty alternator, and alternator replaced...okay, maybe, but THREE TIMES IN A ROW?! I'm so frustrated! What else could it be?!

you have some sort of parasitic current leak.
unfortunately this is very difficult to find, as you have to check all the wires in the car.
an easier solution is to install your own battery-cutout
