Hello,
My Name is Michael Mangione, and I am an Entertainment Technician for Universal Studios Florida. At my job, I work with a 1958 Cadillac El Dorado, a nice looking car, quality wise. Some years ago, the engine of this car was completely replaced with a 1988-(I think), Chevrolet engine. The car runs, but none of the gages on the dashboard work, at all. A separate circuit was set up to run the head lights.
I have called Cadillac, who told me that since it is a Chevrolet engine, it isn't their problem. I also called Chevrolet, who said since it was a Cadillac body, it wasn't there problem either. I do have auto mechanics who work on property with me, (all of which are unwilling to look into this problem), but if I can find out how to fix the problem, they will carry out the work.
Is there a part I can purchase for under $1,000.00 that will fix the dashboard meters?
List of dashboard items that don’t work
1. Gear shift indicator
2. Fuel Gage
3. Speedometer
4. Odometer
5. Horn
6. Oil
7. Temp.
8. Dashboard lights
9. Radio
10. Turn Signals
Thank you for your help
Sincerely,
Michael Mangione
