"I like you" does not have quite the same connotations of "I am hopelessly devoted to you.", "I want to spend the rest of my life with you.", "Your very presence makes my heart beat faster and everything seem right with the world.", "I want your babies.", "I forsake all others, and will sacrifice all that I am or will be at your feet.", "You are my fire, my honour, my soul.", "When ever I hear something cool, my first thought is the enjoyment I'll get telling it to you."

There is nothing wrong with liking someone. If you like them and are going out with them, but don't yet love them, then try "I adore you." or "I'm crazy about you."

Never lie. It will always come back to haunt you.
